When Missy and I had been married for just a few years, she told me that she believed that I was called into the ministry. I laughed. After some very poor choices that I made in life, I allowed God to “wreck” me; and wreck me He did. I started engaging in street ministry with groups in the St. Louis area from food pantries, street ministry, and housing projects. I became addicted to helping the “least of these”. Because at one point or another, we all fit into the category of being the least of these. Jay Covert and I started talking more about planting a UO in 2017. He spoke at a church that I attended and told me, “You know that you will be working with me planting a UO someday.” We moved to Indianapolis in April 2021. It’s amazing the doors that He has opened for us once we said yes to the call that God has laid on our hearts.
We will move on the streets the way that Jesus did, and how He told His disciples to move. We will pray for healing for the sick and those who need healing. Physically, mentally and especially, spiritually. We will move in the gifts that God has given us as He gives them to us. We will live the Great Commission, which is a biblical mandate for every believer. We are honored to be called into this ministry by God, and we will always keep in mind that it is a honor to serve and be called by Him.
